Horncastle Arena

Horncastle Arena is one of New Zealand’s largest purpose-built indoor sports and entertainment venues, only ten minutes from Christchurch central city and 3-minutes from the motel. Built in 1998 this versatile venue has hosted many international sporting events, artists, exhibitions and gala dinners. 

The arena has a maximum seating capacity of almost 9,000 and can be configured to provide comfortable seating with superb views for any number of events. The Arena has 4,000 square metres of flat floor space with additional space available in Back-of-House and concourse areas. There is also the ability to add marquees on either side of the venue to create even more room.

We provide complimentary bicycles  so you can enjoy the thrill of mountain biking or exploring the Christchurch city on two wheels! 

There are a variety of cycle routes are available including the famous Canterbury Plains Bikeway that runs through the City Centre alongside the Avon River, passing historic landmarks such as the Botanic Gardens, The Canterbury Museum and Cathedral Square.  We're the closest motel to the Christchurch Adventure Park and to the Little River Rail Trail. We're only a 5-minute walk from the iconicx Orangetheory Stadium, home to the highly successful Crusaders rugby team. Besides hosting rugby matches, it also hosts outdoor concerts and shows.

There are over 18000 seats for sporting events and over 30,000 for concerts, with thirteen large corporate boxes overlooking the hallowed turf. A corporate box can accommodate up to 60 people, making it an ideal choice for corporate gatherings and meetings.
